The brasilian group
Divine Symphony, with Shadows Of Paragon, certainly are
the big revelation in the unblack scene of 2004. Let's meet this
band through the guitarist and leader Kelton Kellyo.
"Reject
Darkness" is a really surprising debut album even though it has been
released for a small (but great!) label as Extreme Records. How has born
Divine Symphony project?
Well, I had a wish in my heart to form a band, so I met Wilson
Amaral we didn’t play nothing, so we begin the study our instruments
and in little time we were played them, so we met Ivan Santana,
Janderson Moreira and Jonathas
Carlos they had another band and we
began the Divine Symphony; today we see that everything that came
about us all the difficults went to become the band that
we’re today
we thank Jesus Christ for everything.
Usually underground bands release, as their first work, an Ep; you,
on the contrary, have released a 68 minutes full length album.
Congratulations! How have you spend working in studio? Is there any
member of the band who looks after songwriting or doing you compose
all together?
I
think that our big difficulty at studio was money, because we wanted
that our album was good and in Amazonia where we live the studies is
very expensive, but we had victory, about the sounds we compose all
together, we always do everything together.
What do you think about sales results and your live shows? Are you
satisfied with the success you are living?
Well I think that to the present moment yes we’re satisfied, there
is only ten months our album is to sales and we can already see same
outcame good, but I believe that all going to be best in the future
I know that our label is making all that they can for us, and came
wait because the price we’re paying.
"Reject Darkness" mix melodic black, more aggressive old school
moments, with mystic atmospheric parts almost
gothic, especially
thanks to the great voice of Isabel
Fernandes. Is she a simple guest
or does she collaborate firmly with you? Does she come with you on
tour?
She went of the band but we had some problems, today she’s just a
guest as others girls that help us, but we always have a girl who
make the voice of the Isabel Fernan-des at the shows.
The group has an incredible instrumental mastery; solos and
keyboards parts are so particular; which is all members's musical
background? Do you played in other bands before creating Divine
Symphony?
We study everyday, lintening many sounds, having many essays and as
I spoke before some members had others bands other members don’t.
In this album emerge an epic feeling with viking chorus, an
eccellent idea for the songwriting; you think will you develop this
stylistic choice in next albums?
Maybe but we don’t want catch only a stile. We’re finishing the
composition of the second album and our promise is that always will
be faithful the our ideology that is Christ and that always will be
a band of the metal.
Congratulation for the production
too! It sounds clean and very
powerful!
Did you take care of it personally?
Yes, we had the help of a
great friend André Mendoça (Immortal
Choir) that help us in the production of the album, André and we’re
the responsible of the production of the album.
In my opinion the only defects of "Reject Darkness" are two bad
keyboard riff that falls down two great songs as Way for life and
False emotion, and two tracks a little bit ripetitive, that don't
give anything new, as Silence of angel and the title-track: I think
that this songs because of it's length, could be cut off from the
album. What do you think about?
Always it’s good hear some critique, but is very hard get gratify
the everybody, I personally like this two sounds.
My favourite tracks are Eternal salvation and the moving Fallen
face, really magic! Which are your favourites ones?
Its is the my favourite too but I also like Cry in the dark.
In Brasil metal music is very widespread; the christian scene too is
increasing day after
day, right? Which white bands you know
personally and which are those who you recommend us?
Right, here in Brazil there are many good bands, we personally had
the pleasure of knows great bands as Antidemon, Skymetal, Exousia
and other greats bands here from Amazonia
where we live as Warfare
Noise Sangria and etc.
Divine Symphony is an un-black band; what do you think about
this movement? Your favourite bands and albums? Why, for you, do you
use the black metal music to spread christian message?
I
think that this is the goodness of God to everybody because the
salvation is for all, for all that going to accept the Jesus Christ
in your live, and the underground people has opportunity of going to
be saved. About my favourite bands I like very much Antestor,
Saviour Machine, Slechtvalk etc.
The tree best un-black band at present, Antestor, Crimson
Moonlight and Slechtvalk have just released their waits
new albums: have you listened "The Forsaken", "Veil Of Remembrance"
and "At The Dawn Of War"? What do you think about?
Well I heard The Forsaken and I thougth an album very very good but
I haven’t heard Veil Of Remembrance and At The Dawn Of War yet.
"Reject
Darkness"'s lyrics are beautiful! Could you tell us something about?
Thanks! We think very important the message that the
songs show
to
the people, so we took many holy text and put in our sounds. I also
like more its.
Are you now projecting a new album?
Yes, we are ending the vocals line of the sounds
and even this
months we’re going to record the production demo to we begin the
records in studio.
Divine Symphony have the potential to became a leader band of
unblack scene. How will be the future of these great new band?
Thanks so much! Well we’re going to go make our work and everything
that will came we’re going to thanks the God and you, thank you God
bless everybody.
